Just wrote this, but I don't know where it went lol...

I need $150 ASAP so my husband can get his insurance license to claim his new job.
Our savings are depleted because it took so long for the government to fix the mistake they made when he was getting his first license.
Our bills are dangerously behind because his boss decided to steal his sales before we noticed, (it's legal to shuffle sales at that office. It's meant to help newbies getting started, but his boss uses it to be lazy and not have to work himself. He takes some for both himself and his buddy until there's hardly anything left for my husband... even though my husband worked hard to earn it all. Ugh, it makes me so mad to think about it....)

So.

I'm selling commissions again and I'm selling ad space on my blog.

$20 for 3 months.
That's $6.67 for about 90,000 page views... and I'm selling a good space on the site.

Here's the blog for more details -> dramaswhoo.com/2012/10/19/want…

Here's the link to the commission info -> flynfreako.deviantart.com/jour…

If anybody can make a news article and pass this around, I'd love you forever.
I'm trying on tumblr too, but am generally being ignored so far, (except by one good friend thank god), so yeah >.<;;;

I'm trying to stay optimistic about things and doing all I can.
Unfortunately I can't get a job myself fast enough, (I have been trying, but the interviews generally fall flat when they find out I've been a stay-at-home mom for so long. Hopefully college will change that heh...).

Thanks for anybody's help! :D

Hi hi, A.

Whoa...holy cow! You get that many page views?? Why don't you put ads from ad agencies like AdWords? There's also AdHitz or Bidvertiser (which I'd rather recommend because AdWords is extremely strict). You're just throwing money away by not putting ads.

It's amazing how many page views you get!! What are your secret, woman! XD I'm barely starting to blog, but I honestly don't know how to do it well. Your blog seems to be a personal site where you share reviews of (mainly) Korean drama, right? And is this a Tumblr blog?

I want to, but I found out too late that wordpress is stupid like that >.< I'd have to download and get their other platform if I want to put ads up *sigh*

Yup, it's a kind of personal-style blog about any asian dramas :D It's on Wordpress though.

I just get viewers through Twitter and Tumblr. I connect them to it so they're notified when I update.
But I think the biggest secret are the images.
People love images... when they click on one of mine that shows up in Google search, a lot of them stay and view the rest of the site to find more.

To get images on Google, you just need to upload a lot of images to your site. Google thinks you're important and throws a few up in their results :D

By other platform you're probably talking about downloading and installing WordPress on a server, right? Is there a way to transfer everything? Seriously, you would be making around $300 a month. Maybe even more. Shared hosting is not expensive. It's like probably $5 a month. But since you have good traffic, maybe shared hosting will lag your site by a lot. :/ But if you ever do try all that, I know how and could help you out. I have two WordPress sites installed on my web host servers.

Wow, you probably have hundreds of friends on those social networks! I think you're very right about images. As long as you name them properly, peole will find them.

Well, they allow their own ads, but yeah, it's a lot more limited. I can only make about $300 a year right now with the .com version.
I don't know if there's a way to transfer it... maybe I'll do that if you can get me started with some tips when I decide to.
Hmmm, would it really lag it? I'm really going to have to look into this more lol, I didn't realize I could make such a significant amount with this o_o;;;

Yup XD I was sick for about a week and I took that time to gather a lot of followers. However, Google Images is still the biggest contributor!
Naming images right is very important. :D

I did better research just now after waking up. Shared hosting supports up to about 10,000 page views a day (depending on how good the web host is and other factors). If you're getting 30,000 per month, that means you're getting about 1,000 a day. So, shared hosting is a good option for you right now. But I would suggest using a combination of image hosts for full size images to help reduce stress on your web host's servers. As for the revenue (cash from ads), I might have exaggerated. What I found is $165/mo. at the very least but up to $365/mo. at the most. It depends on many factors, such as content, the ad agencies, the ads relevant to your site, etc. Still, even $165/mo. from revenue for just $5/mo. for hosting? And if shared hosting slows down your site later on, you can then upgrade to a VPS server (from the same web host) that's around $50/mo. or so. You'd still be in profit.

Now, the problem with this is that WordPress sites (that are not hosted on wordpress.com) are hacked a lot. On my first blog, I was constantly hacked a month later -- even with zero content (I was being lazy). I then realized it was because of a bad theme with a vulnerable plugin or something. So I closed the site, then half a year later, opened a new one and did a lot of research and installed many security plugins, and to this date, my WordPress blog is still clean. It's been up since January. My newest blog is still up but it's from August and I only started writing stuff up on October 1st.

Yeah, that's still more than I'm making on it now, haha.

So, for image hosts... are those sites like photobucket?

Ugh, seems like you'll really have to help me with the security stuff... at least until I get the hang of everything XD;

Yeah, PhotoBucket, ImageShack, etc. The good ones.

LOL I'd be glad to help. It's good for experience. :D Wordpress is sure a pain because of all the lowlife hackers around.

Awesome! :D Send me the ad you want to use... or I could just use your banner that I have on my webcomic's affiliate page XD I don't know if you're using a more updated one or not.
Otherwise, the sidebar works best with images of a 150px width. :D

Just draw me a pencil portrait of these two nuts again. I leave what they are doing entirely up to you. [link]

I'm sorry to hear that you're going through a hard time, I wish you guys the best of luck and its great that your maintaining a positive attitude. ^^

The hardest thing about the job market is getting your foot in the door, especially when EVERYONE wants prior experience. It took me about a year when I first started. Still get back to me, I will keep you up to date on the transfer.

Oh, my paypal is flynfreako@gmail.com :D

It's okay if it takes about a week or so. He's doing odd jobs to get money too, and I got two good commissions yesterday, so we should have enough for the class itself by tomorrow.
So right now I just need $50 so he can take the test that comes after the class, which should hopefully be in about a week.

Whew!

Okay! Yay, I like doing pencils and I like your characters, hehe :D

Yeah, it feels impossible for me to get a job right now >.< I heard the course I'm going to take in college will help with that, but I'm not entirely sure. I really hope so though. (They say they're affiliated with hotels in the area or something.)

So your job situation is much better now? I found one of your old letters yesterday when I was cleaning my closet, actually, and was wondering how things were for you right now :0

Thank you for helping and commissioning ;o; :hug: Looks like I only have $30 more to go now before I reach the goal!

Even if it's belated, it's okay XD hehe

I reached over half of the goal, so that's good >.< On Friday he gets paid for a random job he did so that will make up the difference.

While he's taking the class on Monday, I'll be in a medical study to test out a generic brand of medicine... I did it before and it wasn't too bad, there's just a lot of blood draws.
But the money from that should cover the bills until he gets going in his job :D

Job interviews falling flat? Welcome to my world...

Unfortunally all what I can contribute right now is a $30 commission. And spreading the word on my journal. Nothing much besides that. :(

It's frustrating, isn't it? >.< It's like.. this is the best I can offer, what more can I do? Good luck to both of us :faint:

That's fine! Even the cheapest commission would help out! If you are interested, just check out my commission page and send a note.
Spreading the word helps a lot too :D
